Default Help identify this Singer

The decals on the bed are quite worn, and it needs a lot of TLC, but the machine will sew. She is in an old treadle cabinet. The motor just says sewing machine motor. Not sure what the serial number says. Looks like 5812911, but shouldn't it have a letter prefix? The latest patent date on the bobbin plate is 1910. No model number visible.

You have a model 66 that's been motorized. Unfortunately, the treadle parts have been removed too....

Your serial does start with a letter, most likely a "G" that's somehow been messed up a bit...

Thanks, couldn't think of what letter a 5 looked like. Age is right to be a G. My dad probably motorized it, because I remember sewing on a treadle when very young. Will probably clean her up, reattach the light, clean up the cabinet and use her as is, until I can find a way to convert her back.

It goes back further. My mom wasn't born until 1927, so someone had the machine before that. I know one of my mom's older sisters had it, because we got it from her, but even she was born in 1906. So, who knows who was the original owner. My mom got the machine because she needed to give my sister and me a machine of our own to keep us from playing with her Elna. Linda was 8 and I was 7 when we got the machine, which was in our bedroom. The motor went on sometime in the next 3 years, when the parents were convinced that we would not put the needle through our fingers. I quit using it at about 11, when my mom got a new Viking and we were allowed to use that machine. It had embroidery cams--how could the Singer compete?
