Default The infection spreads!

I've infected my son with the vintage bug! He's into classy mid century furniture especially teak, maple & walnut. I saw this on CL and just sent it as something cool. He went & bought it yesterday. He says the chair needs a new seat cover, they'd tried to paint the seat fabric (????) He says it needs a new electric cord as it's frayed by the plug end. It's such a neat set and he is going to learn to sew & mend his own stuff now! It was only $30. I can't wait to see it.

Neat find! I like the looks of the bullet shape on the handwheel. The chair and desk are pretty cool too and perfect if you like mid-century modern.
If it's a cloth power cord that he needs he can find something pretty close at Sundial Wire.

GreyQ: Thanks for fixing the pictures.

That looks like a Sears Kenmore Model 117.59 Imperial Rotary. I have one parted out and bagged up.

It was some 20 yr. old's great-grandma's machine and I thought that kid is so going to regret selling this someday. Thanks for the electric cord tip, Rodney. The CL ad said it's a 1938 but my DS hasn't sent me the serial numbers or any information. I couldn't get my son near a sewing machine or needle & thread. I guess it just takes the right machine. Now when his messenger bag or backpack strap breaks, he can mend it himself. This machine looks like it can handle just about anything. WooHoo!

GreyQ,

That's a wonderful complete ensemble. Good on you and your son.

If he doesn't want to rewire the cord set, Sew-Classic has them.

Thanks Joe for the information. I haven't done any rewiring of a sewing machine but have rewired lamps. Knowing where to get good supplies is half the battle. Since I caught the bug from you all, I thought you'd enjoy seeing that it's spread.

Wow, you did good. All of that and in good shape, at least on the outside.
