Joe or anyone else that has a copy, is there any way you can send me photos of the whole manual? Just got this machine for free today and it didn’t come with any directions…

I was able to sheet feed the manual through a scanner into a PDF. I've not uploaded a PDF before, so I don't know if it will work. You should print onto regular 8.5x11 paper and then cut and put in order.

Default Kenmore 120-49 Timing

I recently picked up a Kenmore 120-49 that was completely locked up. I took it apart and was able to get everything moving smoothly again and get it back together. However, I did not pay attention to how all 3 gears lined up with each other when I took the chain off. I think I have it close but I think the timing is still off. Would anyone be able to look at their machine and help me get this working correctly? Each gear has a dot on it and I assume those can be used to line everything back up but I'm not sure how.

Default Timing Solution

I figured out the timing issue for anyone who is interested. There are 3 links on the chain that look different from the rest and are copper/bronze colored. Two are close together and should be lined up with the dots on the bottom gears. The one that is by itself should be lined up with the dot on the top gear. Line them all up at the same time and don't tighten the chain too much or you will have unnecessary drag. Just as an FYI these will not always line up when the machine is properly timed. However, if you do enough complete revolutions they should eventually line up on a properly timed machine.

Default Timing Solution

As another FYI the special chain links I mentioned are only on one side of the chain. There are dots on both sides of the gears though. I ended up putting the chain on with the special links on the side of the chain farthest from the machine. This seems to work so I assume this is the correct way unless someone else tells me different.
