LOL. There sure are a lot of those around! It's funny, but most of the machines posted on my local CL are Kenmores. I own one of the flowered cased Kenmores and love it, but I know what you mean!

I got hooked on the 301's, too & still have 3 of them, but am downsizing and will have to sell some of mine. BUT, I'm keeping the one I bought last year because I wanted the #42 cabinet she sits in.

Lots. There have been a ton of threads about 301's here if you do a search. They're many people's favorite vintage machine for quilting.

Default Looking at buying a 301??

I guess the only one I don't own is a centennial badge. But, I've been searching for a decent longbed black machine for a while.
I bought a Featherweight 221 I love, but when I get further along with piecing, into sewing the strips together, the throat(?) area is to small on Featherweight,so I am considering buying a nice Singer 301 on ebay..is there much more area in the 301 than 221???????
Looks like they operate very similarly..
thanx for any input in this 301 machine!

The throat space on a 301 is approx. 7", so you can compare that to your FW. Yes, there is more space.
