This is a model 185, from the late 50's. Nice machine, though, and still mostly all steel gears, etc. Find the Featherweight Club thread on here and take a look...there are lots of pics of FWs on there. Once you see one you can't mistake any other machine for a FW. They are very unique!

Beautiful 185 machine! Featherweight...no - - - lightweight....maybe...it's lighter than other vintage singers.
Is this your first vintage machine? Did you have much cleaning to do?

Now THAT'S a DEAL!! Your 185 is exactly like my daughter's (it was given to her by an admirer!! go figure, lol) and although I am a "Janome girl" , I have several old vintage and antique Singer machines too. Your is lovely; enjoy it!

That is quite a deal! And no, not a 'featherweight', it's a lot heavier, but it sews so nice! I got mine out again just last night to sew and was wondering why I didn't use it more often. Love all the attachments - wish mine was in a cabinet, too.
