Thanks! That's a great site. I found information on darning foot and pictures. What a fantastic source this board is for places to find things regarding just about anything regarding machines and quilting. Not getting any work done around the house but oh, well! ;)

Just saw your post and as I was reading all the replys I just had to share since someone metioned your machine was made in Clydebank Scotland. My Grandfather was from Clydebank and he worked for Singer in the early 1900's. Infact on a mariage application we found he was listed as a brass finisher for Singer and his fiancee was a needle maker. Small world!

Thanks for sharing that! Truly a small world! It mades it all seem so real to think of the persons building the machines and parts. A great part of your history! I love family histories and geneology.

I also have one of these. It is the original machine I learned to sew on. Made the first wedding dress I designed when I was 12 for a friend of my mom's. the machine is a showpiece in my shop now. Aneokle

I was at a yard sale and saw a case with Singer on the handle and $5 price tag. I opened the case and it was a 99-. I asked the owner if it worked and she said I could plug it in to check it as she was selling it for a neighbor. It worked well enough for me to take a risk. I could hardly wait to get home to examine it further. I cleaned and oiled it, and the stitch is perfect. Heavy little thing, but I love it.

Have fun with her!:)

Isn't it wonderful that you remembered your MIL's Singer. I'm sure she will be happy that it is going to be used and well loved.
