Default My Singer 15-91 auction purchase

I just snagged this beautiful 15-91 at an estate auction this weekend for $25..yep, $25! It is is beautiful shape, has the manual, attachments, buttonholer and the stool. I was tickled pink and posted the pictures on my Facebook page to show my friends and one of them PM'd me and told me it was her mom's machine. She or her sister didn't have room for it and sent it and some other stuff to a local auction house. She was so proud that it went to a home that would cherish it...and I'm thrilled to know its history. I've named her 'Sue' in honor of the lady who sewed many a garment and quilt on her.

What a beauty. That's the same cabinet my Mom has but hers contains a 301.

    It's a small world isn't it?

What amazes me I guess is that "modern" folk don't have room for family history any more. I find that kind of sad. Well, it's got a new home now and that's the important part.

I'm hoping one of 'Sue's' great grandchildren takes an interest some day...that's the only way she'll ever leave my home...I'd return her to someone in their family who wanted to sit where she sat and made all of those Easter dresses and baby quilts. She'll join my other 'gals' after a good cleaning and oiling. (I have several other old trusty machines)

Don't think I'd want my "family history" cluttering up my daughter's place. Let people that enjoy sewing machines have them. Not everyone appreciates sewing machines which is OK with me.

I have the same model in the same cabinet with the stool...love them!

As for family history, my sewing machines don't count...they, with the exception of one, are MY history, not that of my family, and will most likely be sold on my demise. I would like to know that each of the 4 kids was at least offered one of them tho...

I hope someone gets a whopping good bargain like melodyr's 15-91 when I kick the bucket
