Default oiling vintage Bernina

I am going to buy another vintage Bernina. I already have a 730 Record and a 900 Nova. I want to have kneelift and needle down as well as more stitch options. I have noticed that while my 730 is wonderfully easy to open up the top and side for oiling and cleaning, the Nova you need to remove some screws. I find that a bit more fiddly but can do it, because the Bernina is so worth it. What I wonder is if the 1000 series of Bernina is getting even harder to open and if there are some that are better than others?

It varies, I think the 930 was still meant to be cleaned and oiled by the user. I'm not sure about the very first models in the 1000 series, but at some point the top no longer comes off, in stead it's the casnig on the hand wheel side that first needs to come off, then the backside. There's more circuit boards and step motors, and it quickly becomes more cumbersome. It's within doable if you really want to though.

The 2 most important parts to take care of (besides the hook/bobbin area) on a 1000 series Bernina, is the take-up area, and the area behind the hook. You can mostly take care of the take-up through the hole in the front. You can see pretty good when the light is on. To get behind the area behind the hook, there's a small panel that comes off with 2 screws and 1 nub that needs a hex. We don't usually need to take the side and back off, but you could if you wanted to.
