So what is the deal with there being 2 spool pins on this machine? I have a Pfaff 15 clone that also has 2 spool pins, with thread guides on each side of the top of the faceplate, just as this one does.

One of my favorite products for dry, dry wood cabinets is Howard Feed-N-Wax. It is a combination of beeswax, carnuba wax and orange oil. Your local hardware store should carry it.

It's my understanding that the 115 came in either Tiffany or Gold Wing decals, with the Wings being exclusive to the 115.
The decals on this machine are "Filigree" decals, and I believe the machine is a 15-30, can we get a pic of the bobbin area?

Looks like a 15 from the underside to me, in fact the underside looks exactly like the picture in my 15-30 manual from 1903, however that shows clearly the more rounded harp area that this machine does not have. The similar decal on the 66 was used from 1911 to 1940 in the US

Being a German mad machine where all the records were destroyed - you have to be a real detective to figure some stuff out!

Oh, I thought I'd already posted a picture of the bobbin area, I guess I missed it. Here it is--very sad and rusty:

That solves it - for sure a 15. The 115 also does not have the "finger" in the bobbin case like the 15.

Agreed!! I've attacked every bit of wood in this house with it, including scratches on the floors! The really bad wood gets the Murphys Oil treatment then a coat or two of the FnW.

The other clue is the 1908 date. Yes, it's possible the C serials went to 1912, but as you mentioned in the other thread, the first production date for the 115 is 1912.

I agree. There were some of the "older" 15s with the stitch length knob, the bar over the tension disks and the "old style" bobbin winders. This is apparently one of them.

I haven't seen any 115s though with the beefier looking bobbin area (this one will rest on the bobbin assembly, the 115 doesn't), and all the shafts underneath.

That's a pretty special machine you have there.

Thank you everyone for all the help with this! I was so thrilled to receive this machine and now I'm even more thrilled to know a little bit about it and where it was made. I guess since the records for the German factory were destroyed it will be impossible to guess at a manufacture date, but it sounds like it is one of the older ones. That's just cool.

Now I need to get some supplies and try to clean it up and maybe get it working again. What a fun project!
