It still helps. Thanks! Part of what I was wondering is how the follower works and that gives me a picture. Still not sure on the takeup yet but I'll try to compare it.

makitamama - Looking more closely I'm not sure that yours is that much different than mine. Here are some more pictures with the needle bar top placed in position and the takeup partly bent back into shape

Default W & G pictures

Here are a couple of pictures of mine. It's so frustrating that yours got injured after surviving for a hundred years.

Lyncat - thank you very much for the pictures. Now I just need to see if I can bend it back into shape completely.

Good luck! Can you see my aquarium tubing treadle belt? I really like it!

Yeah, I was going to ask about that but got too interested in the pictures of the takeup mechanism. Have you used the same setup on a lockstitch machine? We're going to Petsmart today and I'm thinking of buying some of the tubing for the various and sundry treadles that seem to be accreting around here. What diameter tubing do you use?

I don't really know the diameter. I bought it on eBay. It was so much easier than trying to punch a hole in that hard round leather!

I'll say it is! I picked up some of what they had at Petsmart today and it makes a very nice belt for Colette.

The leather belt I bought was 3/4" so I assume the fish tank tubing would be the same.
