Default Pfaff 30 is on it's way!

Well I finally was able to get a Pfaff 30. I paid more than I was expecting, but now I have it. I just wanted a Pfaff that was as dependable and stout as my 130s,but was just straight stitch. Now I am curious to see how it stands beside the 130. I will post pictures once it gets here.

Congratulations! I love my 130-6. Sews really smooth. I'm sure the Pfaff 30 will be a lot of fun. Is it the exact same mechanics as the 130, but straight stitch only instead?

I love my Pfaff 30. Unfortunately the paint is flaking off and I replaced it with a Pfaff 30-31. Hope to repaint at some point. The 30-31 does not have a feed dog drop feature, but I still love it. Mine is a treadle. It is unlikely that Pfaff treadles were imported and more likely it was brought over when the owners emigrated. My guess, but I think a good one, especially since the manual is in German!

Maria,
The treadle would be a real find!
I can just see one set up at my hunting shack.

Most Pfaff 30s I have seen have the drop lever on the bed, much the same as Husqvarna CB-N. I'm guessing these models were the first to be given this feature. There is a similar Bernina, but I think it's closer to Pfaff 31. I think the only difference is the top tension on the face plate side though. The Paff 30 has everything you want in a cast iron straight stitcher.

Congratulations! I will be interested in your critique and comparisons after you have used the 30 for awhile.

Mickey, I have a Bernina that is a green monster that to me is like a Pfaff 130. Is that possible?

Jim, My passion is treadles from overseas. I also have a Jones cb and a Jones spool ( copy of W & W d9 or Singer 9W), as well as a Gritzner treadle/ HC combo.

I have a 30 treadle waiting in the wings. Got it with an absentee auction bid.
