Default Pfaff IDT Problem Solved

I had purchased a Pfaff 1473 and the presser foot shank had been so worn that the presser feet would fall off while sewing.

I bought a replacement presser foot shank - which "fixed" the problem of the presser feet falling off, but it would catch/hang up at any and all "bumps in the road." Which got to be very annoying.

I bought another Pfaff and tried swapping out the shanks - the IDT acted up on the other machine and when I put the shank from the "other" Pfaff on the 1473, the IDT behaved properly.

So - I ordered another replacement shank - the screw hole is much smaller than on the first replacement shank - and the problem is solved.

Even my sewing machine guy did not figure this out when he looked at it this summer!

Sometimes the owner of the machine is the best person to troubleshoot problems. I don't think repair persons have the patience to troubleshoot
