The walker may stay longer than expected. It becomes useful at the end of a long day even once most of the recovery is finished. DH thought he'd be finished with his crutches and walker in the first month, but entering month 3, he's still using his.

I used mine when I got tired too. It also came in handy when I broke a bone in my ankle last year. If you have room to store them, keep them!

I've been on & off crutches for the last 3 years. I hate them and the necessity of them when I need them. I hope Ashlea will recover quickly and well enough she won't need help walking for many years.
We got more mail today! All very nice blocks again including some paisley. I love paisley. I love the bold patterns and bright colors. :) Anyway, we received packages from Stitchnripper, ThayerRags and Caroline S. today. Thank you all very much! Rodney |
Ashlea is suppose to go home on Saturday. Caleb was hoping for Sunday, her birthday.

Awesome news! Saturday is better. No matter how nice the people have been I'm pretty sure she just wants to go home at this point. Home is going to be hard too seeing that it's not going to be the same home as when this all started. She's going to have a lot of new things to get used to.
So much for her getting the quilt while still in rehab but it sure beats her being in rehab until it's done. :) Rodney |
Fantastic to be going home....a much better place to heal....and the quilt will be a symbol of love, hope and new beginnings....so all is good.

Those are awesome CD! I'm going to have a job ahead of me doing everyone's work here the justice it deserves! :) Rodney EDIT: I forgot to add. I'll probably use Ella (1908 Singer model 27) to treadle the blocks I'm making. The rest will probably be done on my Rodney machine-mainly because trying to do a good job on the bigger project while I'm still learning to treadle wouldn't be a good idea. I need to get more comfortable treadling first. If I screw up a block and have to start over, no big deal. The main quilt is a different story. Rodney

That or I'll just make Olivia do it. ;) What's the point in having a kid and a sewing machine if you don't start a sweatshop anyway?

Wonderful for Ashlea to be going home the day before her birthday. This way she'll wake up to the wonderful gift of being in her own home on her birthday.
And, Rodney, the quilt was started while she was struggling in rehab, and will continue on with her as she keeps working to fully recover in her home, so it will still be closely linked with her own journey. :-) |
