I have seen hundreds of the "treadle irons turned into a table" but this is a set of Florence Fancy Leg Irons.

complete these sell for over $1000 easily....

Monroe 01-28-2014 03:22 PM

What a sucker punch when I saw the picture! 3 1/2 hours away, and I have property taxes to pay Thursday. Crud.

ArchaicArcane 01-29-2014 10:37 AM

Sucker Punch is right! I remember the gorgeous one someone posted a while back. This is a tragedy!

Since it's Me, Myself, and I living here I can have all the machines I can afford. That's the kicker.

HHHMMMM I wonder what they could do with a crush and sow - hey it is already boxed up ready to ship...

They aren't that far out of touch - well maybe by 10 years - back then you paid a lot more for one.

She's been in Florida. Welcome back Miriam, we've noticed your absence.
That Singer 73 is a serious machine indeed. Used to sew leather suitcases, apparently.

miriam 01-30-2014 03:06 AM

I was vacationing in the arctic Florida sunshine weather - in other words - we went camping.

I actually like that stuff.

Pretty neat.

especially if the machine was too far gone to save.

hard to argue these aren't neat:

It's not like there isn't enough old machines that are past being usable out there. I think it's a neat use of something that would have ended up in a landfill...

:)

so smart. hopefully those are not usable machines otherwise not smart at all.

The Vickers is in nice shape, but not -that- nice...

Edmonton is out to lunch, I haven't even seen this many over priced machines on Calgary Kijiji adds. These people are going to have these for a while at these prices.

It's a 31K, made in 1916 (so not yet an antique). They are known as the tailor's machine. Perfect if you make clothing.

Exactly what Mike said. I'd love to get my hands on a nice industrial. My neighbor alone could probably keep it in constant use with the projects he asks me to do on my quilting machine.

Edmonton is often out to lunch for prices. My 2 best deals so far have come out of near Calgary, or at least further south than Edmonton. I haven't even posted this week's wishful thinkers. ;). And yet, I struggle to liquidate fully serviced machines here.

Though I should mention that it was a Calgary ad that I saw for someone parting out a Singer accessories box for $20 a piece. Last year I think. :D

I need to find a bobbin winder like that one has. It mounts onto the “boss” of the machine and runs on the balance wheel rim. That would come in handy on “JR”, my Singer 31-15 Treadle. It’s the first one that I’ve seen like that, so thanks for posting the link.

if anybody wants an all metal parts machine for a measly $100 and NO it is NOT my ad.

ArchaicArcane 02-03-2014 09:16 AM

Welcome back Miriam ;)

OK, this one's been sitting in my browser for a few days:
http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=563001164

99K in a cabinet - $600.

I showed it to DH, and he said "YEAAAHHHH!!!" because we have one in the basement (older 99, but the cabinet is the same) with bonus stool that I paid $25 for last summer. It needed some maintenance (veneer glued back down, drawer reattached, screws tightened, etc), and this was the ad that made it take place... so I echo his "YEAAAHHHH!" because there's one less project hanging over my head now. :)

OK, the "list" arrived late... here is this weekend's comedy section:

http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=563713890 - Industrial Irons
http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=563743539 - Another ultra valuable 127 with a plain cabinet
http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=563886189 - This one's more sad than anything. I get that the light is bad this time of year, but why take Wood furniture outside in the snow to shoot pictures of it? It's destructive, especially because you know they don't want it, how well do you think they wiped the moisture off when / if it came back in...
http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd?AdId=563980913 - An Eaton's machine, possibly rarer than the Singers they comment on but still not worth that much, not here. (Lots of Electric Singers but no treadles? I can come up with probably a dozen in Edmonton and area on Kijiji alone) It's a gorgeous cabinet though.

Singer 31-15 Direct Drive - No Clutch. Pressing on the treadle plate tips a board that the motor is mounted on to tighten the belt, and coil springs then tip the board & motor back when releasing the treadle plate.

An interesting setup. (No, it's not mine.)
