I have a "Magna Cart" folding hand truck. Those work well for moving heavy boxy items. Harbor Freight also sells a cheap thing that converts between flatbed cart and upright hand truck, but it's bulkier to transport in a car. The Magna Cart folds flat and the handle telescopes, making it small and very easy to carry in a car or SUV.

Joe,
My 237 weighs 32 pounds, parts of it are cast iron. I can't put a Singer spoked wheel on it as the hand wheel shaft is a bit larger. The other consideration is if the motor boss will line up properly with the hand crank?

Sharon,

That's not good is it? Well, there's got to be one out there that will work.

MadCow,

Part of the lightweight idea is because of all the other things my wife carts to the craft shows. Sometimes there is just too much to handle and the more something weighs the less likely it is to get used.

We have all sorts of carts and a small Nissan PU. Limited room.

I like that Brother Tz1-B651, it's an interesting machine.

Would a Singer 328 work?

Nope. Internal motor, no motor boss to mount the hand crank on.

Might have to take a hard look at some of those machines and figure out if they might hand crank
I have one that I set up as a hand crank but I just don't love that machine.

Miriam,

Looked at the machines in your Japanese ZZ thread and there is two commonalities to most of them.
First they are cast iron behemoths and second all but one have push button reverses.

My wife has said she wants a lever type reverse so she doesn't have to hold it with one hand as she guides the fabric with one hand and cranks the HC with another hand ....... umm, yeah that's what she said .... sorta.
