How about a Necchi BF or BU maybe?
|
Steve,
Are they aluminum? Do they have levers or push buttons for reverse? Do they hand crank? Do they have motor bosses? I know nothing about them. Haven't had one to tinker with yet. Joe |
The Necchi BU is the zz and it came in black or green, cast iron. BC, BCJ or BF series are straight stitch only, and also cast iron. I don't know about the BU Nova or later. The Necchi cast irons are even heavier than the Japanese cast irons.
The joke about the Necchi BU is that sailers like it b/c it stitches canvas and can also double as the boat anchor. That's why I didn't mention those. hehe |
Yeah, cast iron is out for this exercise. Nice for sitting on a table or cabinet at home, but not for toting around to craft fairs.

The little 3/4 long shuttle zz'ers can be hand cranked, I just saw one that had a HC on it the other day. I've thought about putting a HC on mine. Maybe someday.

Very interesting thread! Here's an old one from the Quilting Board that might add more information for you.
