Muv; Beautiful doll quilt again! I guess you use vintage machines to sew all of them? I'd like to use my new treadle and try it out on a doll quilt.

I pieced three rows of the large half squares together, then sandwiched with batting and back, and quilted that first to form a section. Then I attached two sections following her method of joining, the use of a front and back strips that are filled with a strip of batting, and then quilted over with a straight stitch. After the center area of the large half squares were joined, I then followed the same method to join the finished quilted borders. The white strips on the back (brown fabric side) are the locations of the joining strips. In the center front of the quilt, the joining strips are pink. I just pin basted the section that I was quilting instead of using the spray baste stuff.

Jillnjo - this one was pieced on my Frister and Rossmann transverse shuttle , hand quilted, and bound on my 1927 99K hand machine. Everything I have ever made has been on vintage machines. If you are trying out a new treadle do something with plenty of strips so you can really get going - a doll quilt might be frustrating with all the stopping and starting because you are working on a small scale. Hand machines are best for slow motion stop and start work.

Bennett - yes I have made large quilts, it's just that I have yet to quilt one at home. Doll quilts are a great way to try out techniques to use later on a large quilt.

Not a quilt, but a large potholder or cloth trivet. I explored FM quilting with my Davis NVF today and made two large potholders. The silver on the back of the one is ironing board material. The potholder with the blue back has the ironing board material sandwich inside that one. First potholder:

Second potholder. Since I can't draw, I just outlined the pattern on the fabric. The Davis NVF has no feed dogs. Binding was attached with Davis NVF, and decorative stitching was done with Singer 328K in treadle.

Here is my latest project. My DD was in for Thanksgiving and we were looking at everyone's quilts and saw a Harley Davidson one someone had made for there DH. Well she is into Harleys big time and told me I could make a quilt for her one day. I got to thinking she needs a Christmas present so I put this together. I did the emblem by cross stitch that I designed on the computer from a Harley ad. The quilt was put together with a 301 and the binding was put on with my Davis VF.

Neat! I like the cross stitch in the middle.

You have such good ideas I am going to try the pot holder with the ironing board covers. Great gift idea for the quilt ladies next Christmas. I am also going to try the quilt as you go. Thanks for all the ideas you come up with and your work is really beautiful.
