I agree with quiltinghere...don't be in a hurry to get rid of them. I've done that with other machines I've owned and then wished I'd never gotten rid of them. I use to think that you should only own 1 machine at a time so whenever I'd upgrade I'd get rid of the "old" one. Learned my lesson on that way of thinking, though....I now have 5 machines and would have more if I weren't afraid my DH would have a stroke...LOL

Just remember this........They do not cost you anything just sitting there! And you can say that you have them.

Thats like all of my cars I have that are sitting in the barn on my land in middle TN they are not costing me a dime and if anything they are going up in value!

Does your 301 have a switch for turning on and off the light? I'm asking because I cannot find where mine is (if it has one).

It is in a strange spot. Right below the letter E in SInger under there is a round black button and you turn it like a lamp. It comes on. Took me a while to find it too.

I ALWAYS unplug my 'old' machines (and sometimes my new one).

Even though the wiring is in excellent shape - you just never know when 'something' may happen

You know...I did a little comparison of your 301 and 401 and my machine and guess what...mine is a 328K. I don't have a switch for the light on mine. Kinda weird. Here's a pic of my machine.

retired2pa, I think that picture is of a rocketeer -- just as highly collectible as the 301 and 401.

Really??? Thanks prism99 for the info :)

OK...I did some research and the Rocketeer's were the 500 models.....darn :(

I have two of the 401As. I would never part with mine. I do think about what will happen to all my stuff, so many machines, when I'm no longer around.
Only one daughter still sews out of four. None of the GDs sew. I also have knitting machines with no one to leave them to. Life is just so busy today.
I hope when they all get put up for sale there will be someone who will post on here saying what a great deal they got.
Do you guys think I should start posting on Craigslist so someone could enjoy them now?

Joyce
