Guess what I just found in a packing box!?! An old Singer in a bentwood case! It belonged to someone in my husband's family. I contacted Singer and they tell me it is a 99 and was manufactured in New Jersey on Feb1, 1928.
I haven't plugged it in yet (a bit scared to before I have her checked out) but the parts move smoothly by hand. There is a knee control attachment as well. A TREASURE! Anyone here use a vintage machine routinely? |
Many do - and we have a special section for vintage machines - be sure and check it out

Yes, I use a 1950's Pinnock daily and will be using a 1912 treadle (after I restore it in the new year). At the moment my Pinnock is sitting on top of the treadle cabinet so I 'spose I'm actually using them both! My 80's singer has been sidelined (I have no great affection for it), but will probably hang on to it as a backup.
Sounds like you have a great machine...(we love pics....hint....hint). |
I have several vintage singers I use daily. I have been piecing a selvage quilt top on phone book paper on my treadle. I love to treadle, they make such a pretty stitch. It was made in 1924, it belonged to my great aunt.
