Pennijane, I cleaned my 301 with Oxyclean. It didn't look dirty and supposedly had been cleaned and serviced before shipping, but I took off a thick layer of dark crud like she has been hanging out with a smoker for a long time.
I put some car wax on part of it and it looks good. I have some slip/slide decals for her before I wax everything. |

You collectors/rescuers are enablers. I've never wanted a treadle, but I do now. Is anyone going to riding in the backseat? Judy |

I found the Ruby on several sites. It is mid 1890s with a vertical shuttle and the funny tension thing on the top. What am I getting into??
My car is a full size Buick LeSabre Limited with a huge trunk. I may have passengers. My daughter and my two grandsons are riding with me, but I suspect her husband will pull a vacation day at the last minute and I'll be alone. Not good because of some physical disabilities, but I'll not miss this wedding, so it's whatever. A flat head - don't have many of those these days, but I can find one. |
Okay gang I have an announcement to make and this came from a very reliable source..........
Word on the street is that Alan and a few of his faithful from the Needlebar have been lurking in our shop. For now on we are NOT going to mention the Needlebar!!! According to a few we are the village idiots and our shop has been mentioned in several topics and it was not nice. Anything related to the NB is copyrighted and belongs to Alan, I do not want to see it in this shop!! By the way, Singer did not make machines in Turkey for crying out loud!! Billy |

Billy Sharing information is how we were taught to sew and in turn we share with others. However, it is clear that we need to take heed and not use copy written material from any site. We should also welcome all lurkers to share their enthusiasm and knowledge for vintage sewing machines with the rest of us. Lastly, the way I see it, there will always be those who are challenged by competition and no matter what, they never understand the positives in sharing information. Judy |
