They, (grandson quoting GM) called it a treadle, when it clearly has a motor, so they obviously are close to clueless. There is nothing ornate in the photos he sent, and no obvious rust. Not sure about a hole in the cabinet - if it is a place to run electric wires or a belt. This jog anyones memory of something similar?

Question.. are these good deals?
http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/atq/2306809455.html http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/atq/2313157118.html <- looks like it'd require a ton of work http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/atq/2318477734.html <- I like the look of this one, but not sure http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/app/2358337885.html <- sounds too good to be true (I've never used Craigslist before) http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/art/2330144696.html <- I emailed on this one Any help is appreciated, I'd like to get a few new ones for relatively cheap. |

Or do you mean when there is a problem what do you check? There are all kinds of trouble shooting guides on internet - I have learned a lot that way[/quote] "Has it been dropped or thrown through a window?" I like this one the best! lol I check for the same things. If the picture looks like it doesn't have plates or they don't show the bobbin or shuttle, I then ask before heading out to see the machine- but even then you don't get a straight answer. |
GO for that 201-2 in that cabinet. The cabinet alone is worth more.

Okay...here's the list of the weekend machines acquired by me, via a friend at an auction and my garage saling out of state!
Singer Treadle Model 27, 1905, cabinet not in the best of shape, but I think the machine will work when cleaned up, oiled and new belt bought, Singer Model 127, 1940, Motor broken off, wires in bad, bad shape, original (?) manual...can I treadle this one?? Dressmaker model S-2402, works, has all 30 cams, attachments. Needs a real good cleaning, oiling and shine but I think it could be a fun machine to own. But may end up putting her up for sale along with a couple others, as grandbaby "stuff" is taking up lots of space. Could put the machines in the attic until the baby stage is over!! Any thoughts on these machines?? |

I have to re-new my homeowners insurance policy for my collectibles and am thinking of adding the old machines to it for proper coverage of them. I posted this machine clear back on page 931 here but I am having a hard time finding past sold or any value for this machine.. Can anyone please help.
The Phoenix Sewing AG Baer & Rempel is a treadel machine that at some point was converted to electric with a Singer motor. I believe it is a 28Z model. The cabinet is in pretty good shape and I gave it a pretty good scrub today. I didn't do anything to the machine itself yet so it looks dirty in the pictures. It to has the owners manual and also the box of accessories and the original tool wrench. I will convert it back to a treadel as the only thing that I need is a belt. |
