Oh, just remembered, I stopped in a tiny little antique shop (attached to a pawn shop) today. A man came in trying to sell a little bitty hand crank Singer machine. It was like the one here:

Lady called me today and said she had an old sewing machine for me if I wanted to come pick it up. About a 45 min drive for me. Well.....OF COURSE I WENT! When I got there she had these in her garage just "taken up space and collecting cobwebs". She gave me both of them! Singer 66 Serial AM078465 from 1955 and Sears Kenmore Model 158.14002 from 1971-72. Serial 0018082. I thought I was going after one old machine. Had no idea I was getting machines with cabinets. :) Excuse the cobwebs-haven't cleaned them yet.

It does seem to have a bit of a pink tint to it but it is actually a creamy beige color. If anybody on this board has any idea where to find a manual for it, please let me know. I've googled it but I only seem to get a lot of newer model Dressmaker links.

Okay here are the pictures. I have narrowed it down to either a National of Eldridge. But I cannot figure out the model.
Can anyone help me with finding the model. I am thinking a Vindex or some sort of vibrating shuttle based on photos of Damascus Annes site. Pretty clean with some rust on the chrome pieces and underside. The clear coat is very crazed but the decals are good except for the front edge. The parlor cabinet is still in the back of the 4runner waiting for someone to help me get it out. It will need the top reveneered. But otherwise the treadle moves very easily. Ok...I did it. I broke down and bought a puzzle box full of attachments on ebay. ~sigh~ I've never seen one "in the wild" that didn't have issues of some kind with a price tag of $100 or more! (That 1889 stamp on them really boosts that price tag for some dealers!!)
Had to tho...the handcrank I just got NEEDS them!! :lol: |
