Tommie, that 130 is a work horse! That machine was used to sew sails and everything else! I have my mother's Pfaff 130, and it does it all - feed dog drop, zig zags, has all the attachments for buttonholes etc. You can't go wrong with that machine, they still sell for quite a bit on e-bay, but very heavy!

Note they are reviewing a Singer 285 not a 185. Where do you pick it up? I live in Indianapolis. just enabling...

I have the plates for the 185, 99, 66, and so forth. I probably stock more parts than a lot of these online stores. My attic looks like a NAPA for sewing machines with shelves full of parts and all for vintage sewing machines. :D

:oops: I forgot to mention you! I told her someone online like Sew Classic and forgot that you would have the part. Will you forgive me? I'm so sorry. My bad.

My VSMG pretty much insists I can drop my feed dogs on my old 66. I don't like the idea of unscrewing them out of place and just taking them out when I want to FMQ.

For those familiar with the Singer 66, is there a feed dog cover or something similar to buy to attempt FMQ on the machine? Since I bought her, I've had glowing reviews about FMQ on the 15's, but I don't have a 15, I have a 66. Since the 66 will be my only vintage machine for a while, I might as well learn how to FMQ on her since it was the reason I purchased her.

Also, if I have to buy a feed dog cover or something, are there boardmembers out there I could contact about the part before resorting to other websites?

Yes, it is great to have a machine for each job - sure makes our sewing tasks easier - that is the way I do it - they all have their speciality!

OMG! She just showed me a blog of some gal in New York that designs and sews some awesome bags using a vintage Singer 29k58( I think its a 29k58... looks like one... I don't know the correct #, it's a 29k?). She asked me if I know or seen anything like that Singer. I told her yeah and that I saw one and played with one at the June Gold Coast Mini TOGA. Way cool of a machine that is HEAVY and BIG! She looked disappointed at the heavy and big. I looked at her and said,"NO WAY, You are interested in a Singer 29k58?". Her look was yeah mom. HELP ME!

ROTFLMBO she got bit..... Is that an industrial? Tell her to come on over I have a 241-13 needs work....

That's the machine!! She likes the leather bags that this gal is making and posted her work online. She told me that it looks like a fun project and wants to try her hand at doing the same since the bags go for well over $500. :roll:

I'll just send her over to play with your machine. You can give her lessons on how to use that machine!

Ah, I think this is where my husband would think I have lost it. I can hear him now saying what the heck do you want with that ONE. Now if it is free and works, that may be a different story, but even then I bet he will say no go. He likes the cute ones!!! :)
