There was a 221 FW on an on line auction here last Thursday, I saw it to late to bid, went for $107. No attachments or case, bare machine, still was worth it.

On my 15-91, what is the extra knob left of the stitch length lever for?

That is the stitch regulator screw. You use it to adjust and hold the lever to the right of it at the stitch length you want.

This was the machine I went to the auction for in the first place. It went for $120, a little rich for my blood. This was on the auction as a salesman's sample machine.

Wow - neat little machine, but I agree - a bit rich in price for me too.

That is indeed a gorgeous machine, but I wouldn't have paid $120 either.

I have had a very long day. While I was traveling for work I stopped in a GW in Brownsburg, IN. The GW is down the road from Walmart. Anyway, I spied a sewing machine in there. Potted motor in an industrial looking table - I would love that table. At first I thought it was a treadle but it is electric - straight irons. Looks like a 201 electric - it has a treadle type foot control for the electric. It was $69 but Sunday might be half off. Anybody in that part of town?

There is a Singer 185J for $20.00 on Cape Cod, MA Craigslist.

That's a better deal than the one that I found for $35.00

lee231 - nice find. Thought you would like to know that what you have there is a 15 not a 99.

This is a good blog post to learn how to identify vintage Singers by their silhouette:
