Speaking of tables, there's one listed in the Dallas area now with a 403. Looks like they are willing to split the pair if anyone is interested.

Singer sewing machine oil if formulated for machines and is still made in the USA and is perfectly fine. Nancy you correct don't use old oil or oil that has turned dark since it has started to degrade. A good synthetic sewing machine oil is good also. If you would like to try clock oil go to www.merrits.com/clock Go to the oil section and look for P617 pocket oiler(1.75 each or 1.50 for a dozen) this is a good oil to try and see if you like it. They have some high quality very expensive oils on the site also that I use on the antique clocks from the 1850's. All these oils are good and without parafin to glog up parts. I use both singer and mostly clock oil because I always have large amounts on hand for my 50 or so antique clock. Just use the best sewing machine oil you can find. Singer is not the only oil out there. Google sewing machine oils to find more.

One other thing, Nancy make sure the oil as no detergents or kerosene in it.

Oh I am so bad.:o I have no room for more machines and wanted to try and get some redone and off to a new happy owner. So what am I doing picking up two more projects today. Well the price was so good I couldn't pass it up. I got a Singer Touch and Sew :eek: in a cabinet and a Singer 500 in a cabinet. Both the cabinets need some cosmetic work.
I hope I can resell the Touch and Sew after a good bath and new oil for the $25 that I paid for both with not much work. I will not spend any money on this one and I do agree they are not worth much. The 500 has more missing parts, face plate, top and tension disks. No cams came with it either. What was I thinking? :rolleyes: I will try to post some pictures this weekend of these sad ladies. |
