Just wondering. I got 4 treadles and they all wear leather. Joe Here is a curiosity A singer 414 on CL I'd post it on the giggles but this isn't a bad deal or anything - just an odd machine. http://peoria.craigslist.org/app/2772597973.html It looks somewhat like a 404 - I wonder what quirks |

[QUOTE=Mizkaki;4979126]Kathie & Nancy,
Cool looking machine. This model is the model "E". Made by the Free Sewing Machine CO. in association with Westinghouse who made the motor. It was made from the early 1940's into early 1950's. It takes the CC needle which is shorter than the 15x1. Several charts found on the internet say that the 206x13 needle is a substitute, however it does not work well. The 206x13 needle has a different timing length than the proper CC. I have a small stock of the proper needle, let me know if you need any. Cathy, you are a mind reader. I have been trying to find the needles but no such luck. Yes I would love to buy some Thank you, Kathie |

Charlee, how do you hold the boot laces together?

Why couldn't you thread an old treadle belt throught the tubing or just a piece of it at the joint and then sew together with the floss? It would keep it in line and not have to worry about the tape. Just a thought.

It has a bit of a tug on the thread when I turn the hand wheel still - it might work but just hand turning it makes it hard to tell. It needs power, whether E, HC or T, I don't know yet. Each has an issue. E needs wires. DH hasn't had time... HC needs some work on a wheel and treadling needs a treadle - I have nothing that will let it just drop in and treadle. Has anybody taken the top off an E cabinet and put it on a treadle base?
