Thanks Nancy for posting my block. I hadn't taken a picture of it before I sent it to you. And, now that I'm more awake, I took the picture of the 1953 FW that I used to make it. I had intended to make a block with a fish I had designed for a quilt I made at the cabin but I just didn't have time. We were right in the middle of making our twice a year move.... to the cabin in the UP and I hadn't even gotten everything unpacked yet. I knew I had to get this finished and sent to Nancy so I picked a paper pieced fish 'cause I could get it done quickly and sent. So I hope you like my block, Glenn. I am so thankful that you are willing to share all your knowledge with those of us that are trying to get our machines looking good again after so many years of neglect. And, I've caught the bug. I am looking everywhere for more machines to add to my meager collection. I don't know why or where I'm going to put them when I find them but I'm bound to saving as many old machines as I can. Of course I'm going to be asking you all for your expert knowledge since I'm such a novice as getting these beauties spiffed up as I learn.

Wow, Jean look at that FW and the cabinet! There are not many of us with that cabinet! I have the card table for the FW, but Geeze, I didn't know anyone on here had the wooden cabinet!

Your fish is really cute, and you did a great job! I don't see how you could have done a nicer fish even if you'd had tons of time!

Jennb, geeze what a beautiful Domestic fiddle base machine and cabinet. I love the shape of the treadle irons from the side view - what craftsmanship went into making those! Also from the front, the little star in the middle of the irons is really cool too - I wonder if that star meant something to Domestic? Is that a little drawer in the middle of the cabinet? I don't remember seeing a top drawer on a coffin top cabinet before?

Charlee, you did a great job on the Kohler cabinet! Is that your first treadle with reverse and the capability to drop its feed dogs? That is why I love my 15-88 so much! I forget I am treadling on that machine because it has reverse and drops its feed dogs! I can't wait to see what you make with the Kohler!

The problem is, you guys keep getting these really cool machines, which just make the rest of us want one of those too!

Nancy, was the quilt as you go by Betty Cotton? My GD made one using her technique couple years ago. Turned out very nice. She used every decorative stitch I have on one of my machines. I've used it too, and find it easy to do.

Yes this cabinet has a center drawer that swings open on a pivot. It had 6 or 7 bobbins, several needles and a variety of items. They lady didn't even realize it was there. I can't believe the cabinet keys are still there. I'm trying to get more definite info on the dating of the machine. After a good cleaning she should be ready to roll!

Thanks Nancy, I'm not the only one on QB with one of these cabinets. JabezRose has one and we chat back and forth sometimes about them. I found mine at an estate sale.... sat in my car in freezing weather to be number 1 in line and when the cabinet and FW were together for $250 I couldn't get my money out fast enough. It is so perfect to sew on...... the front opens and there is room for my knees.

Thanks for the compliment.... as I said, all the blocks look so cute together. You did such a fantastic job. I'll have to look for the book you spoke about and try the quilt as you go method. It might be a little easier than wrestling with a big quilt on the FW.

Thanks Nancy! Yes, this is the first treadle with the dogs that drop and the reverse! I'm pretty excited about it...I still need to find a thumb nut that will fit the stitch lever...it's missing and hard to remember not to go past the stitch length that I want.
I think my first project is going to be a throw pillow that I embroidered back in the early 80's, that my mom took to finish into a pillow, and it never got done! Picked up a pillow form for it yesterday, now just need to find the time to sit down with it and do it! :)

Glenn, It was a pleasure and fun to make a square for your quilt. Thank you for being so generous and sharing your knowledge. So glad that you are enjoying the quilt, now and in the future. I actually hand pieced my block, very relaxing and enjoyable.

Charlee, your Kohler is beautiful. The cabinet turned out great. The veneer on front is very striking, and I can't get over that wooden pedal!
