Glenn, I wish I could give you the cabinet!

I'm in love with the irons, they are gorgeous!! One part of me says to find the next steward and another part of me says keep it. My husband says keep it, but I know that I will never use this machine. I feel like the poor machine has lost its soul, and the cabinet has followed to an extent. It's the irons that keep screaming at me to keep.

I would take it in a heart beat

I did post a photo of it, but it's buried somewhere...machine photos thread maybe? It's gray with a white faceplate...really a pretty machine, in my opinion. :) I took it out of it's original cabinet, a small one that had a "door" but no storage, and put it in this desk cabinet. The strip of light wood that you see behind the machine is the top of the desk...when you lift it up and slide it behind the desk, it lifts the machine.

Charlee that is a handsome machine for sure! It looks like a 'boy' to me! Very strong and capable! The color also looks boyish! Thank you for posting it again!

They are only asking $75, but the machine is in Nevada City - over an hour from me so I can't get it without DH knowing! I'd go if DH and I hadn't had this "I have to stop talk" this morning! He agrees I need to get the Pfaff, but he wants me to stop after that! Uugggg! I hate it! Isn't that Viking cute?

Thank you! I may bring it to Turlock TOGA...maybe the machine's future steward is there...or maybe not.
I will need to get a belt on the machine to give it a test drive, and hopefully that will bring life back to the poor machine.

It's a National, called The Eldredge. I think this is National's first in line of "The Eldredge" series- but I could be wrong. Spent hours looking for another machine and cabinet like this on the internet, only to find one person. Found one person with "The Eldredge", but it looked to be the next in line. At first I thought this machine was made around 1890, but when cleaning up the cabinet top there was a stamp in the wood with 1901. I love the treadle irons on this machine the most. I'm not in love with the machine and the poor cabinet needs help. Wish this machine found Glenn instead of me. He would have this cabinet looking gorgeous! The cool part of the machine is the long section (neck) isn't round, but a hexagon shape. I haven't sewn with it. I rescued this machine; I think the previous owner messed up the decals. I don't know what I'm going to do with this machine.

Hey Vintagemotif--Looks a lot like a my Damascus National IEB. As soon as I saw the words hexagon shaped, I knew they had to be related. Mine has been dated at 1890 and is in a parlor cabinet. I restored the cabinet back in the '90's but still haven't restored the machine. Some not so kind soul scratched all the red and green jewel decals off. GRRRR
