It doesn't seem really high, but from my (cheap) perspective it doesn't seem like a bargain. Is it pretty? Do you like it? Did you try offering less? As ar as throwing in a cabinet, I'm at the phase of collecting where they would have to pay ME to take a cabinet:p! If you go for it, be sure to show pictures! Laura

Anybody know what size needle the Domestic takes? TIA

Thank you to all who replied to my 237 question. I am leaning towards not getting it beause I have a Necchi that does the same thing as the 237. Thanks for all the help and information.

OK, THAT is an unhelpful attitude, missy!:D Not getting a machine because you already have a machine...madness! Don't ever say something like that in front of my family! Laura

You can always offer $10 or $15 and see if they want to get rid of it. Clean it up and then decide if you want to keep it.

My mom had one machine all her life. Did everything she needed to do on it. My wife and I have over 30. I've already found some machines that do straight stitches beautifully, others that do decorative stitches, matter of fact we have 5 or 6 that do decorative stitches and each one does different stitches.

So ..... don't be saying you ain't gonna buy another machine cos you already got one. Not around here anyway.

RE all the comments re my decision over the 237. Y'all may not understand but I've got DMIL (sub darling for darned and monster for mother) coming in about one month AND the room to get cleaned out. I'm pretty sure buying another machine to find a place for will not be helpful for cleaning purposes. I have also thoughfully considered some of the commments about the 237 which have been posted and decided am not truly crazy about getting this machine. What's the saying? Something like "It just doesn't my skirt up." If it were a different machine, I'd be much more eager but as it is I also have a 503 that needs someone more than me to work on it. When I turn it on and try to run the motor, I get a noise but no action. Rather have the 503 fixed before buying a 237.

Chris the "doesn't lift my skirt up" is also how I feel about this series. 'Cept I don't wear skirts unless there's a wedding or funeral. So, I'd have to go with ruffle my pant legs??:>

Did you all notice how the relevent threads are now "Sticky-ed" at the top of the category? Yay!!!

I have also noticed that there are many machines I see that I just don't crave, even though they are discussed in glowing terms here. A 201 I would probably like to get one day, but not craving one. I have 2 15's, one a clone, that I need to get working, and 1 in treadle that is working. A 66-1 that I need a treadle base for (still working on getting that), and a Davis VF I need to get the base done for. I guess I am feeling overwhelmed with all these girls sitting around kibbitzing about my neglect!! LOL I can hear them whispering when I am in the sewing room....I tell them to shush...as soon as I have time and materials I will get them going. But they are getting impatient with me!! LOL

Danimal - Love that 66 Redeye and it's gorgeous cabinet. Also can't wait to see pics of your Davis NVF.

Miriam - I got a similar Domestic for my grandaughter a few months ago. I love the look of it. Her's came in a suitcase type case also.

Candace, I'd actually have to go with ruffle my pant legs as well. Wore a dress for Easter Sunday but probably won't again until next Easter or a funeral, whichever comes first. Ruffle my pant legs it is!:D
