Hi Nancy. You are right. I put it in the cabinet last night and I think it looks fantastic. ~G~

This post was amazing!! I have a Morse 300 that I want to treadle. Just seeing it mounted was amazing.

Will the treadle wheel and belt wheel match up?

247 right vertical post with gear trouble.

Your so right. it just stopped working right after I posted and I ask my Machine expert today and he said if the bobbin had stopped turning and I said yes. ,and he said it was a bad gear on top.. I looked underneath , and the right post was not turning. I got it from a friend so she said no problem, I hadnt even gave her the money yet. so in the garbage she goes. cmaras:thumbdown:

Don't pitch it until you take off a few parts - it should have a good presser foot and its screw, needle holder, lots of screws, throat plate, slide plate, bobbin winder, spool pin, tension, bobbin area parts, motor, light, foot controller...

Glad to elicit a grin, not a groan or a grump.

Geeze, that cabinet in beautiful! If it had the Jones with the large yellow rose - I'd have to make an exception and get yet another treadle!

Nancy,

I'd be glad to take those parts machines off your hands. I will re-home them if possible.

Cathy

Are you coming on the 19th? I could bring them with me then?

But I noticed that the needle sits a hair too much to the left and when sewing you can sometimes hear the needle "touch" the needle plate. I changed the needle and removed the needle plate and screwed it back in. It is still a bit too much to the left. It doesn't stop me from sewing but I would be happier if I could slightly adjust the way the needle sits so it is more centered over the hole. Is that possible?
Thanks Jackie

Jackie are you sure the new needle is not bent? I was in a serger class once where the instructor went through a whole package of 'new' needles that were all no good. I'd re-check with yet another needle - maybe a Schmetz universal size 80, and see if it makes a difference. Just because you put in a 'new' needle doesn't mean the new one is not damaged/bad - it happens.

Everything looked to me like it lined up. I have since put the 66 it came with back into the cabinet, but I did check it to confirm that everything looks like it would line up properly when I had it in there. If you want to fold the machine into the cabinet, you do have to take off the block of wood on the underside of the lid that holds the machine down and in place though. It will fold into the cabinet and the lid will almost close. On mine the top lid was hitting the motor and kept the lid from closing by just 1/8". That is so close, it may be different with another machine or bracket.

Yes, I'm planning on the 19th. See you then. I have a little something for you that I'll bring.

That is exactly how both of our 413s quit. One minute they were running great, the next nothing. Top gear broke on both. They aren't that hard to fix, but all you can get is more plastic gears. So I agree with Miriam, take the good stuff off before you toss it.

Joe, would another gear set from a metal gear machine work? Like from a 237? I have wondered.
