Hi BIlly, As I was driving home from the LQS I noticed something was wrong with my car. So I pulled over to the shoulder and got out to take a look see---couldn't find anything wrong so I got back in the car and GUESS WHAT?? I found a stow-away in my back seat. So It really IS true what all the others have been saying about them just jumping in the vehicles. :lol: :lol: :lol: .The slide plate is underneath and the bobbinwinder/beltcover is off on the side. The screw was loose so I removed it. She really needs some tlc. She has lost alot of the enamel on the bed edge as well as some of the decals. The handwheel turns really good. She was sending out signals and I heard her. This one has it's own home ( case ) which I'm going to renovate by myself. I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to use for the case- any suggestions? She was only $10 How could I say no to her! I'm itching to start cleaning her up--but she will have to wait . too much to do now.

So I joined this board to learn as much as I can about them (who knows I might even learn to quilt) I found two machines at our local Bernina store this past weekend and they were very cheap. This one is an Ideal Electric, I have no ideal how old it is and it seems to be in very good condition. I have searched the internet but to no luck so I will keep trying. Since I am new here is there a way to just search this thread if I am looking for a particular machine? Thank you for letting me share this.

Hey Billy... how readily available are accessories and cams for a Singer 328K? I found one for about $30 which has a manual but nothing else.

If our friend here cannot find a part, there is a man in our community who has been in the sewing machine business for longer than I have been around. If anyone has the part you need, he will. Let me know if you ever neede his information. I love old sewing machines too. I wish I had my grandma's!

Honchey is so very right.....we must always practice vigilance....as I was leaving my aunt's house this last weekend a couple of machines showed up in my car as well....both are Singers they are a 15-90(1933) and a 15-91(1948)....both are in great condition...she was still using them for occasionally patching jeans and hemming slacks. They are in portable cases and I do not have cabinets for them (yet) and I have no idea where I will put them or what to do with them, but I have a soft heart when it comes to vintage machines....I am at the point where I am going to have to stop bringing them home or where I am going to have to start finding good homes for them. I know that I won't stop bring them home, so I guess I need to start finding homes for them.....with a motorectomy the 15-90 could be returned to her original state as a treadle machine. |
