Thanks for letting me know. I am a little hesitant to buy without seeing and touching plus the shipping is often deathly. Also too many people's machines seem to get damaged in the mail. I am currently focussing on craiglist so we can check it out before buying. Sometimes pictures are hard to see what shape the machine is in.

All, here is my latest almost finish project using Billy's tutorial. I need to do the electrical before I can try it. I will do a seperate post on that subject.

What I learned. You can rub the shellac off with the goop. I stayed away from the decals so they are okay. But the bed looks bad with the remnants of the shellac. That is okay with me as not sure that I will keep this one....like Billy says, it has one of those tails. ;-)

I have a Singer 301 that I realy like. I find myself looking at other slantomatic machines 401, 404, 500 etc. Do I need another one? Right now there is a 404 for $100.

I never heard of a 'World's Rotary.' Is that the brand -- I know so little about these vintage machines!

I agree, my DH and I are doing estate sales, yard sales on Saturday's now and having a blast looking for vintage sewing machines! We have even been doing antique eporiums and thrift stores -- I really look forward to Saturday's now!

I didn't know anything a few months ago either. It has been fun learning. I just try to pick up ones other than Singer unless I find a really good deal on one just to be different.

I beleive this was made by White. But don't know the age yet. It is not as easy to find the records as it is for Singer. But I will put a call into White today and see if I can get a start.

Okay, the lady e-mailed me that the machine is a 241-3. Serial Number: AG451979. Not sure what needles this one will take. Can you sew upholstery fabric, like for cars using this machine. We have a 1948 Dodge that we are restoring and I want to do the upholstery. Will this machine do that? Also, would $250 be out of line for this machine? Have to go look at it tomorrow, if it will work for what I want to do. Thanks.

The slide plate that is shaped like a t-shirt is a dead giveaway that this machine was made by White.
