here are some pix, we are storing a laundry basket on top of it until we fix it (gotta have someplace to store the extra blankets when I have no closets in this house!)

I once rear-ended someone while driving a Buick station wagon. Not a scratch on the wagon, but the car I hit was a real mess. (Not my finest hour; told only to celebrate the sturdiness of a Buick!)

Hi, I'm new here but I have been reading this thread till my eyes are crossed lol.

My grandmother gave me her old treadle machine about 15 years ago and it has been sitting in my spare room for about that long. I decided I wanted to clean it up and see if it could still work. Now I'm getting obsessed with this thing!

It is really dirty but it works! I am gonna start really doing some heavy duty cleaning this weekend and I'm really excited.

Yup, he's one of 5, he's a bearded dragon, we named him "Crash" because when he runs around the livingroom, he crashes into the piano, crashes into the couch, crashes into us... he's a little lovey. He's just a couple inches shy of 2-feet long :) and weighs about 1.5 pounds

What on earth would make a machine start "running backward"? It's an Elgin Model #2468, and I'd so love to get it running for her, I don't trust her with my good Husq's.

I don't know anything about your machine, but I know this will happen on some machines with a cracked cam stack. I've had it happen with Vikings.

That is a really nice machine!! It favors a White that I sold not long ago, it had the same basic design and the dual spool holder on the rear was the same. I am thinking this was possibly badged by the Jaguar Sewing Machine company. Are there any JA or JC numbers on the machine. One will be stamped or inked on the side of the bed and the other will be cast into the bed. Also is there any other markings under the bed of the machine like on the shafts or anything that might look like a logo.

LOL I know the feeling if I miss a few days I am like Whoa!! I can only imagine what it is like if you just join in and want to read the whole thing.

But you have a great machine and they are so soothing to use. Do you have the treadle for it or are you looking for one. If your looking for one there are a lot of them showing up on CL and can be had for cheap. A Model 27 was my first machine and it looked just like yours. After some TLC I made it into a nice machine.

I have the treadle and cabinet and everything. I took it off to start cleaning it but before I did that I wanted to see if it still would move/turn and it DID.. almost like it did 30 some odd years ago when I was a kid playing on it at my Grandma's house. She used to give me scrap peices of and let me sew. I didn't know exactly what I was doing but I sure did make a lot fabric stick together haha.
