While DH oiled everything up well for testing, he did not put any oil in the reservoir. I see no evidence of any dripping on the dust cover for the cabinet, so it does not look like it ever dripped. Though that may only mean no one else ever added oil to the reservoir either.

This is DH's least favorite of my Singers - based on working on them, not using them.

DH's words - minus any expletives - Compared to the 66, 15 and the 201, the 101 is not easy to service. Everything seems to be in everything else's way, so you are taking off stuff you'd rather not have to, to get at something else.

The controller built into the machine adds complications - especially if it does not work. You also can not easily rewire it to get around the male/female pin electrical connection. The oil reservoir system is a poor way to get oil where it needs to go. Since Singer did not use much of this on any future machines, it's likely they thought so too.

We could not test this machine until we had it back in the cabinet. It runs at one speed - medium slow. No feathering at all no matter how far you push the lever. Have no idea if that is normal or not. DH is going to look at the controller at some point to see if there is anything he can do about that. We've run into a few pedals that had two speeds (you can tell because of the contact points) while most are more variable.

I'm very happy to have the machine, DH is very happy there is only one like this.

Just bought, cleaned oiled and adjusted a baby blue Deluxe Princess, only difference i stitch length selector. It's very forgiving, I mistakenly stuck in a 66 bobbin, and it sewed! :-)

This New Home "Light Run ning" has an interesting "convertable" feature. Maybe some one else can give me some more information? The cabinet and base are in excellent condition. The base has holes for the treadle belt to pass thru, but it also has a swing away New Home motor. A neat little slide open compartment, which fortunately contained a few shuttle bobbins. I probably wouldn't have bought it, but for the case, and the posts here.
The other purchase, from the same vendor, was a Singer 15-91. I paid $100 for both. The 15-91, included another bobbin slide cover and an extra bobbin case. It wouldn't turn, the reason being, it had the wrong handed bobbin case, the one in the accessory compartment was the right one. Very light cleaning and some Tri-Flow oil, and it was stitching fine. All that during my lunch break!
