Default A Queen Anne Cabinet & Stool

For those in and around the Twin Cities area there is an ad on CL selling a old Singer for $110 (I can't identify it as it's pictured from the back). http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...441871882.html

It looks like it's a 201-2.

funny that they have it turned to face the wall. Makes me wonder if maybe the drawer on the front won't stay closed. That is a rather common problem. The one I have needs the hinges replaced. The hinges and screws are there, but the hinge is thin and the screws have pulled right through it. At least that is an easy fix.

I paid about $200 for the same cabinet but it had a 401 with all accessories inside. This one is a 201.

That may be the case, lol. I don't need it as I already have a Queen Anne w/ a stool.

I am on the lookout for that cabinet and stool but have hopes I won't have to pay that much....I already have way too many 201's. Don't need another one!

Looks nice. I don't understand why I keep seeing pics of sewing machines for sale with the pic of the back of the machine, a machine down inside a cabinet where you really can't see it, or a sewing machine and cabinet for sale and it is inside a shut up cabinet and you are suppose to guess what it is. Do they think all sewing machines are made equal?

Yes, that's what they think. I have a son who sells stuff on CL, and that is the way he would describe, photograph, and show a sewing machine; in a cabinet or in a carrying case. He prices them according to what he thinks I might give for one; sometimes he will even ask me what one is worth. Haha,

I ended up buying it for $25. It belonged to the seller's great aunt (she really wanted to get rid of it as she had another sewing machine) it came with a box of attachments, cabinet key, manual and a buttonholer. It was kept very well, it's a 1948 Singer 201-2. I lightly sanded, put Restor-a-Finish and feed wax to the cabinet and stool.
