My 15 does that on and off too. I just make sure that I don't have it threaded when I wind the bobbin.

I have the same problem with a featherweight. I haven't felt brave enough to pull off the hand wheel yet.

Mine does the same thing too ( and to beat the frustration because it will do this more than enough times...) so what I do now is use my 401A Singer for winding the bobbins for the 15-91.
You can use your 301A but the bobbins will not fill up evenly as with the 401A Singer.
Or invest in a sidewinder for your bobbins.
Like I said I use my 401A bobbin winder and it works just fine, bobbins are filled evenly.

I was thinking you could use a different machine as well. Good news because I have a 401A. My 15-91 is waiting for TLC from sewing machines doctor, but I know what to do when I need to wind a bobbin. Thanks so much.

It's a common problem. Some of mine, despite being thoroughly cleaned, won't disengage the needle for bobbin winding. I don't let it bother me any more.

Looking forward to Rain's pictures!

But I wonder WHAT causes the glitch with winding the bobbins....?
I'd like to know that information too or just keeping winding bobbins for the 15-91 on the 401A.
It's also good that the bobbins for the 15-91 hold more thread than the 301s and the 401s in my opinion.
