Quite the Conundrum
Text messages go something like this...
Me: What kind of machine is it?
He: All I know is it is a Singer and it was my grandmothers Christmas present in 1952.
Me: Could I see another pic or 2 from diff angles?
He: Why certainly.
Me: Looks in good condition. Is it?
He: I think so. It does run when plugged in and the light turns on. It has a light on it.
Me: GPS says I should be there at 11:47
He: Awesome! I'll meet you there.

Knowing firsthand the pain and subsequent envy, then full-blown jealousy that comes from such posts, I will refrain from adding just how much I paid for this little complete gem about 20 miles down the road. Someone posted here about finding $15 FW's @ local thrift stores recently. So, all I'll say is this is just as I received it today and I haven't smudged a drop of oil on it or dusted it. It's almost as new as it was in 1952 and it is complete plus.
Wasn't going to buy any more for a while until I caught up on my projects...but this ain't a refurb and I wouldn't have been able to live with myself when I saw someone else posting it along with the price they paid.

I hope you got an equally good deal! Did it come w/case as well?? I was lucky enough to only pay $40 for mine in pristine condition w/case...and that was only because I gave my friend some extra $$ - he was asking less for it initially. I also made a baby quilt for my friend when the time came with the FW as additional payment. Love that little girl! (the FW, that is.)

Glad you got a nice machine and a great deal!
I think we might start seeing more reasonable prices on these. They got super popular with the quilting folk when there was not much available in the small portable machines. Now there are several options available and I'm seeing more evidence with the quilters that is the route they are going.
