Default Singer 301 thread take-up lever

How complicated is it to swap out the thread take-up lever on a 301. It appears to have a worn bushing and clunks when sewing at moderate to fast speed. I have a parts machine to use. Any advice would be appreciated.

These machines are very basic and some of the easiest to repair. Are you sure it's not bent in any way and rubbing, causing the noise? I've never had to replace a take up lever in a 301, but I wouldn't think it would be too difficult. Just take photos to make sure you can put it back correctly if you're certain it must be replaced.

If it is bent you can gently bend it back some times.
