My DIL inherited this machine from her Grandmother. We cleaned and oiled her and she sews well. Does anyone know how to get it to sew reverse?

Not sure if this is right or not but did you try pushing in the round button in the middle of the dial?

I see you got your answer. I was just about to post the same thing. I had this same machine for many years & it was a very good machine. I guess when Singer was making good machines. Nowadays, their quality, like so many others is not what it used to be.
