While working on a quilt on night,I looked at my hushband and said,"how many quilts do I need?"his response,"As many as you want to make."I've kept him for 35 years, should I keep him a little longer?

Too true, too true!

Madcow... Your theory allows room for more. Next year for sideways it will be 34, then a year later 35, then....

My sister asked me that about the quilts I make. I currently have 12 machines of varous vintages also. I liked what Bonnie Hunter said in response to that question on her web site www.quiltville.com. "You don't ask a painter how many pictures he or she is going to paint, do you?" Good answer.

what happens when the DH has no hobbies and thinks collecting is just a money waster?

I got asked that one time....his question got met with silence and a stony stare...he's never asked again, but he does tell people that I collect them, and he rather proudly adds that "She uses them ALL..."
