If your machine doesn't have a motor boss, there is a rare part called a motor bracket for machines without the boss. it allows these machines to be fitted with a motor or a hand crank. Steve over at VSS is in the process of replicating this bracket.
Also, your machine will fit in any standard size case, the Japanese machines had the same size bed as Singers and had the same hinge spacing.

A handcrank or a motor bracket has a groove and hole cut into them to mount them to the boss. Pics tomorrow. Some 66s didn't have the boss. That is one reason Featherweights rarely get converted to handcranks.
The photo below may show what Leon is talking about. I looked at the motor I have. It will require re-wiring, as the plug end has been cut. I have the bracket and all the screws. (I was going to paint my 66, but decided it was never going to happen.) I'm not sure if it works, because I bought it for the cabinet. I assume it's in ok shape. It's a 1 amp motor. You're welcome to them if it works for you. I'm cleaning out, so I'm looking for a home for it.

i think my machine has that. It's in our old house right now so I'll go over and take a picture when I get a chance.

I finally got pictures of my machine. This thing is heavy-I think I'll have my son or my husband lift it from now on.
first, the serial # which, according to this site, means it is a model 66 made around November 1923 and there were 50,000 made in this batch.

Here is the end with the wheel. Does this look like a motor will attach?

This plate is broken so I'll need to find a new one.

the whole thing

Yes , your 66 can easily take a motor.

The bobbins slide you are missing (not broken) fits a 99 too if you are scrounging.

You are missing a little red felt oiler pad near when your bobbin should be. Just to the right of the crosshatched bobbin lifter button.

Decals look very nice. Glad it will be put to work.

There are bentwood cases for 66s but they aren't real easy to find.

The cover is actually broken. I didn't bother to bring it over from the old house since it just falls off. Thanks for the information about the felt pad too. I wouldn't have known about that one.

I love 66's. I took an old barn board, jigsawed a hole, chiseled out a few knotches for this and that protuberance, and mounted it on an old iron treadle base that had been out in the yard (wd40'd and steel wooled first). Worked great. I've since hung the top shelflike on a wall in my wife's weaving room and converted it to hand crank. Now whenever she needs a quick seam while weaving, she cranks one out on her 66, which has going strong since 1921.

The bobbin slide likely isn't broken, it was overextended and dislodged from the leaf spring that holds it snug. Don't toss it out, the new slides have a brushed finish instead of polished.

I'll look for it and take a closer look. I'm sure there was something broken on the backside of it but I could be wrong. I haven't done anything with the machine yet. I found an etsy seller that makes and sells boxes for only about $50 but they are currently out of them so I'm waiting on them to get more made and listed.

I looked up some pics and there appears to be a flat spring on the bottomside. that part is broken in two, I believe. When I get a chance I'll get over to the other house and look for it.
