To clarify, Janey is saying the very bottom control may lock the zigzag stitch width.

This makes more sense than what I posited.

I just looked closer and there seems to be a metal knob of some sort under the hand wheel. Does it have any markings on it? I wonder why they didn't mark the lever above the zig zag lever somehow. Although you can see there are three notches, which would indicate the needle position.

I will need to replace the lamp cord on the machine. it has rotted and exposing wire near the light.
I guess local hardware store will do for that.
Will need to grease and lubricate parts also.
Now will need a good book or You Tube Chanel on learning how to sew on the machine. lol

I learned that Eaton's department store in Canada sold them in the 70s.
Now to find a 1970 Eaton's catalogue. 1975 had the newer versions of Viking sewing machines.

Lamp cord wire from a hardware store is just fine, I use it all the time. I usually use a slightly heavier wire for the motor, but I don't think I really need to.

I can't see the entire underside in your last picture, but I'm guessing you can drop the feed dogs, just can't tell which control might do that for you.

Have you played with the controls to see what moves underneath? I am wondering about the bottom lever or the knob on the side moving the big L shaped piece on the right to drop the feed dogs.

Need to fix some wires on the machine.
I replaced the lamp light wire.
Unfortunately this machine came with a singer foot pedal which needs it's power cord changed also.
I found that on Amazon.ca
https://www.amazon.ca/Sew-link-Lead-...7598642&sr=8-5
The power cord end plugs into the inside of the table that is wired to the machine.
Will also replace the belt while at it.
Fun project getting this machine in great working order then get sewing lessons from wife sister.

Will wait patiently to see if he prints out the manual for his.
I wonder who sold the Free-Westinghouse version of the Borletti.
I am from Ottawa.Ontario,Canada
Wonder where he is from.

It appears there was a furniture dealer in Wisconsin that sold Free-Westinghouse machines. It appears that the lowest lever is to drop the feed dogs. Interestingly the manual says that to embroider or darn, that one should lower the feed dogs and use a special plate. The lever above the zigzag width is the needle position. The lever under the zigzag width is the drop feed. I'm not completely positive, but it looks like the knob on the side is to lock the width of zigzag, so that it can be changed to different widths while sewing, to make more decorative stitches.
