one of those Kenmores that resemble a blender. A nice machine to be sure, but $425?
That is a pretty cool looking machine. I've never seen one before.

    "Reality Check" needed!

    A 1950 Singer 128 for $325? Really?!

More like $50-75 max in this area - and then only if the case is in good condition.

I got one in better shape with all the extras for $25.00. I see they must read our post because he used Godzilla to describe the finish and I have only heard that term here on the QB

    Hey Skip,
    http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_...ic-decals.html
Most of the way down the page.

That's a name I'd heard before I came here. It does seem that this person did their homework on everything but the price though. Probably got bit by the "I'll look at current listings on ebay" thing again.

They did do their homework and I agree it must be the "ebay" thing again. If I could sell some of my machines for what they are asking on ebay I could get rich

I asked him if he was high or left out a decimal point...but neither is the case because his appraiser told him that was the average sale price for these. whatever.

Maybe it's for a future insurance claim if it rolls away?

He needs to get his money back from the appraiser since he obviously is out of his league on this type of appraisal.

Other than these machines/prices that we laugh at, has anyone else noticed the "general fair price" of machines is going up?
It seems to me that what I used to be able to pick up for $50 or less is now actually selling for $100 or more?

Well, I'm not getting more around here - too many for sale - way too many for sale.

I wonder if he told his appraiser it was from the 1800s too. It's 1912 or newer.

Yes I have noticed and I think it is people like us who collect them are doing it. I know sellers read this board to see what is in demand for these old ladies.

I wish they would read this board in Indianapolis - I have stuff just setting there and reasonable prices, too...

Skip and Miriam...I think it's also the "Preppers" that are getting ready for hard times.... Miriam, you might want to try advertising any "people powered" machines that way...directed at the Preppers....
