Not at all vintage, but made me laugh. I didn't know such pink and purple plastic was available in a sewing machine:

Nah, it is it's own piece of junk. I know, I know, somebody has one and just loves it. It was the beginning of the end of the good machines. Some of those can be repaired some can not. If the front plate comes off, the gear can be replaced if not, it can't.

So, what do you suggest I do with a Singer Stylist 457 with gears that have crumbled? Built in 1969. I have the manual and buttonholer. I don't really NEED to have this machine. I don't love it...can I just donate it to a sewing machine repair guy for parts or something? I know I can get the gears and replace them...I just don't want to. What should I do?
