I think it is to make the details on the pedal show up. It looks like this cabinet has wooden legs? Did Singer make a cabinet like this? I saw one in an antique/junk store a few weeks ago and it had wooden legs. The cabinet had a Singer in it, but it was an electric with the centennial badge. I thought they had taken the iron legs off and scabbed on some wooden ones.

Yes, they did. I think they are kind of rare.

I think I might have one of those with the wooden legs in the basement. They're uncommon... I'm not sure Singer understood the meaning of the word rare... excellent marketers though.

Maybe the seller should also be selling some of what he/she is smoking. That might move gfaster than the machine.
