Vintage Japanese machines
I am brand new to this forum.
I would love any info about this machine I found today. Dial n Sew model SL2110 by Koyo "Tri-Cycle series. It looks like fun but I have no idea how to use all these discs and that little "R" button (reverse?) And what does tri cycle series mean?
I would love to find a manual! I noticed two other members posted this same machine some time ago and they had manuals.
is this what you are referring to in other threads as "Japanese badged" machines?

Welcome aboard! If you search you will find a couple threads on Japanese machines that may help. Try "Japanese zigzag machine" in the search box. Also try "real singer 15 clone".
Your pictures didn't come through.

The attachments aren't working so I couldn't see the photos. Did a bit of searching and found some info that the Dial n Sew SL2110 may be the same as the Riccar 1010. There's a free Riccar 1010 manual available http://www.manualslib.com/products/R...0-2986562.html Hope that helps and welcome to the QB.

Oh neat! The cams (those discs) hide behind the dial!
I'm guessing the numbers on the dial match up to the numbers on the cam; so you find the pattern you like, look at the number, and then place the cam with the matching number into the machine...?
The R button probably is reverse; the "L M R" dial is left, middle, right needle position plus some buttonhole positions. The other dial looks like stitch length. No idea what "tri-cycle" means!
Looks like a great machine! Congrats on the find, and welcome!

The R is the reverse button. The disks go in behind the dial. I'm guessing the disks have numbers on them corresponding to the number and stitch patterns on the dial.
Neat machine and it looks like you can set the needle position in the middle. It's a good feature to have.
It should be a good solid machine for you.

Do you have any suggestions on how to search further for a manual for my machine? I want to learn how to use the fancy stitches, make buttonholes etc. and the right manual would help. Not wanting to go into sewing shops during lockdown...

Maybe between the one pennycandy recommended and https://www.manualslib.com/manual/54...00.html#manual which has cam instructions beginning on page 24, you may come close to the instructions to use your machine.
