Default ? Where to get sewing machine belts?

I usually got my sewing machine belts locally or at Sew-Classic. However I'm 400 miles from my last local place and Sew-Classic seems to be phasing out the black V-belts I prefer.

Where ( on line ) do you get sewing machine belts for your vintage machines?

I bought one of these for my treadle after I got angry with a leather belt.

I think it's just tubing with a joiner piece.

The good black v belts are hard to find. The trend is leaning to the round stretch belt or the notched tan belts.

The supplier I use in Canada seems to be getting lower quality belts from the same place. The V belts I got in the last shipment were.... disappointing. It's possible Jenny's out of stock while she finds better quality? That reminds me, I should open a dialog with the supplier and mention that these are crappy.

Try Guy Baker at http://www.sewingmachineparts.net/ That is where my DH has had luck with SM belts.

    Thanks.

I contacted Jenny and she does have the one I was looking for. It's just not listed. I'd suggest there might be more like that.
She also has at least one lugged belt # that she has the regular and better quality available. I try to avoid the lugged belts if I can.

So do I. Even the lugged V belts just don't seem to fit as well as a black V belt. And I avoid the rubber stretch belts like the plague.

When I was a lot younger I used to be the belt replacer on my mom's machine ( my avatar pic ). About once a year or more that stinking rubber band belt would break and she'd bring home another one. I'd put it on. When we resurrected the machine it had a rotted cracked stretch belt on it. That went in the trash right quick. I've run it with the lugged amber belts and found they tend to crack and break and slip, so now it's got a good old fashioned black v-belt on it.

I only have two machines that I have to run stretch belts on and both of them are ancient New Homes. If I ever find a v-belt that fits I'll get two.

Yeah, I have one machine that has a rubber belt. I haven't changed it because the motor pulley is wrong, Igor must have put it on. It's held in place with what I think is a sheet metal screw. At the time I figured it works I'll just let it be. Eventually I'll probably just replace the motor and put a V belt on it. Maybe. I rarely use that machine any more.

We used to go to the auto supply store for belts for my older machines. Have you tried there? With all the little pulleys, etc., in engines & lawn tractors, that would be my idea. Just bring the old belt & ask if they can match it.
