How about a muslin border that would tie everything together regardless of the color used with the muslin??
Welcome to the Quilting Board!

How about a muslin border that would tie everything together regardless of the color used with the muslin??
My mathematician husband says we need to start with a 2 inch square. Is your heart set on a 12.5" unfinished square or could you live with 11.5" unfinished or another round to make it 13" unfinished or as QNS suggested we could add a muslin border to the 11.5 to make it 12.5?
Decisions, decisions.
Edited because I can't spell!

Gardnergal, maybe since you have already started making these blocks, we should just use your 2 1/2" square and 1.25" strips like you have been doing. Just let us know how big you want them. That way you can integrate the blocks you have been making with the ones we send you???? Please let us know what you want to do. I also have many different Pineapple Blocks in EQ, so could print one up that is 12" and let you know what the measurements are.
"You have enough quilts made when your soul is filled, your creativity satisfied and your fingers just won't work anymore."
O dear. I've caused such confusion. How about any of you that have started making one, continue on and make it 13 inch block.
Jeanie...if you can please check what EQ has for a 12 inch block, the rest of us can make the 12.5. Keeping my fingers crossed that not too many have started. I had looked over what sites I knew about and most pineapple blocks were 15 inches hence my try at the size.
JanieW we just had a weather report that said we have a severe weather system about to hit with flooding rains, my heart sank. That is the monsoonal trough sitting off the coast just north of us. Here's hoping that it is not too bad.
DH goes back to work on Wednesday and I am also having some minor surgery (nothing serious, done at the doc's medical centre) on Wednesday and I don't like driving in the rain, and Thursday I want to get to the LQS to put a quilt on her frame.
Will keep you all informed...
Karen
Stay safe Karen!

JanieW ... you must be the FUN Grandma with all the things you do with your Grands! Careful with your training and your knee. Still lots of time to ramp up to the 10 km. Stay comfortable with your 5-7kms and that will help to strengthen the knee. You sure don't want damage!! BTW it's easier to go from the 7 to 10, than from the 5 to 7, so you'll be OK!! Now I understand why the MB cheering (and now hating ON after today's game!) ... Don't give up on your Blue Bombers. After all, if the Argos can do it, all things are possible!
MiraB ... With the speed that you work at I know you have lots of time to get your DDs quilt finished for her birthday. You could still add on the extra chain blocks, if you wanted. Or instead of the piano keys, do a border of all the fabrics, done in squares the same size as your chain square, just that there'd be no white. Here's hoping that monsoon is not quite so bad as predicted. Just make sure you have lots of quilting supplies on hand ... and a few groceries for survival!![]()
GGal et al .... There are PP Pineapples in Quilters Cache -- 4", 6", 7" and 15". Or maybe you could get one of the EQ specialists to draw up the PP pattern and we could all use the same one?

Isa and Bram both had a quiet night! So no news from the SewGrands
I'm busy cleaning here, it's not my favorite job but after 6 months something had to be doneI was downstairs at 6.15 am, made a FWS block and started cleaning! Now I'm having a break, coffee and read a bit on the board.

Yes, Karen. Stay safe.
QuiltE...I looked at Quilters Cache first but didn't find the right size. 12 inches must not be very common for the pineapple.
Jeanie....the small valance is an adaptation of a table runner from my M&M class. The block was 7 inches and I just added the tabs. The larger "grew" out of the first in an effort to make the valances cover the same proportion of the window. It used a 15 inch block and the finished size was 18" x 65". The tabs are 3 inches. I used a silk bat just to give it some stability but it still hangs well.
Ice, Ice, ice, and I am not talking about ice cream. Ice storm. Schools are trying to go ahead on hard surface only this week. Hoping the forty degree temperature will melt some of it.
Must go into Unionville this morning, eleven miles on hard surface roads. Will update after the fact, if we get to go.
Take care, Karen and be safe.
