lol, my 6 week old won't let me ignore him. I have been sewing with him in a front carrier/wrap. He is colicky and doesn't sleep much unless he is upright. The machine noises don't seem to bother him though! Thank heavens for that. My 8 yr old is content with the t.v at the moment, she can hardly wait for school to start back up on monday

I made a practice block today. It took me 2 1/2 hours. I think it came out ok.

It seemed a bit bulky to sew the unit together with the paper on. Do you all leave the paper until all the units are together, or do you remove the paper when the units are individually done?

I remove the paper from the individual units before I assemble the whole block!!

I remove the paper too, then sew them together.

The other method I've used is to cut the paper along the sewing line, so when it comes to sewing them together the paper is still there stabilising but it's not under the needle.

Good Idea Blue! Being a PP, I've done it both ways, but your idea is excellent!

i leave the paper on. i remove only the section that would get trapped behind a seam.

I do mine this way, as well.

I've always left the paper on. Never thought of doing them any other way. You are right about the bulk, I will try it your way! I also remove the paper after the block is sewn and spray starch it. Remember when you take the paper off, never "iron" your block, spray starch and press.

I take the paper off. It's easier to line up the seams for me.
