I guess I will need more blocks! What are the 6 alternate blocks? I read through the book but didn't see a reference to it. Can you explain? I think it will be beautiful too! |

Patricia, in the front of the book it shows how to put parts of different blocks together to make a new block. That is what I am doing. Example....Here is my combination of California and Colorado...and Arizona and Idaho.....

I kept up easily this week, so hope I continue too. Here is my Kentucky Star. FYI, as of April 4, Carol Doak has HER tutorial on her web site. And it is so much easier than the way I first learned. I've gotten enough confidence that I'm working on a miniature lone star PP, diamond size is 1/2". I could never had done this if I hadn't learned Carol's way of PP. So I'm real thankful this group started.
Well here is Kentucky. |

Let's see, six extra stars.....District of Colombia, Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Northern Mariana Islands (I had to look that one up). |
Just checking in to see everyone's handiwork. Love the Kansas stars - Poker D's center really has pop and just grabs your eye, but they are all beautiful.
After nearly what, 4 or 6, weeks of absence I finally made it back into my sewing room this weekend. I finished my California block (will post later today) and even though the center was off, I decided to set it aside and call it done and move on. Went to start cutting Colorado only to realize I returned the library book without copying the pages that included the cutting charts for each block - Whoops! So I just ordered a copy off of Amazon. While I was sewing this weekend I also put together a UFO top I have been sitting on for a year or so. Productive time and I am glad I am not the only one behind. Look at it this way: those of us who are behind will just keep you oohing and ahhing that much longer! ;) Have a great week everyone!! Patricia those blocks are so lovely - I like the contrast and can not wait to see what you come up with for setting it and putting them together! You are like sewing lighting - Ka Chow!!! :) |
Thanks everyone. Whitepine, please supply stars for those territories. LOL.

Checking in on what everyone has been creating. All are beautiful!!! I'm still busy on another sewing project; so, my stars are still on hold. I love all the pretty stars that everyone has made. Patricia Faye, you are on a roll!!

I absolutely LOVE these blocks and the colors are fabulous!! :) I'm cleaning and doing laundry today, I'm hoping to start my stars after dinner. I thought I would go ahead and start on Kansas and go backwards to catch up. Then each week keep on with the order everyone else is in. Well sounds good anyway! :o

I got my book on Ebay for $11, is in the mail as I type right now. I will pick up some more papers tongiht at the quilt shop so I have them on hand when we start. Will be watching the pretty stars shine here while I wait. I am pulling my batiks out and going to use a main background color on all of them and the rest different. I think that will work for me. thank you for welcoming me aboard.
